Winter
November: Starting the weekend after Thanksgiving, visit Butler's Orchard to cut your own Christmas tree.
November 4-5,10 a.m. to 4 p.m: 11th annual “Blacksmiths and Friends,” a traditional arts festival held at the Agricultural History Farm Park, 18400 Muncaster Road in Derwood, Maryland. Directions and other details are available by calling Bob Morris, 301.253.2084.
November 10: First Annual Chestnut Restoration Feast. Join the Maryland Chapter of The American Chestnut Foundation for a five-course meal in a timber-framed Catoctin Mountain lodge. The meal will be prepared by celebrity chefs from the Capital Region and will feature chestnuts and local ingredients. Cost is $50 per person. Saturday, November 18, 12-4pm: Thanksgiving with the Turkeys. Join seven friendly turkeys and all their friends in celebrating a cruelty-free Thanksgiving potluck. Please bring a vegan (no meat, dairy, or eggs) dinner or dessert item to serve eight. $10.00 suggested donation to benefit the animals.
Thursday, November 19, 9am: Littler Bennett's Revenge Cross Country 5k Race. Clarksburg, MD. Sponsored by the Montgomery County Road Runners.
December: Cut your own Christmas tree at Homestead Farm.
December 1, 2, and 3, 10am-5pm: Countryside Artisans Winter Studio Tour. A self-guided tour through rural Montgomery where you can visit local artists and see their work and studios.

December 8, 9, and 10, 10am-5pm: Countryside Artisans Winter Studio Tour. A self-guided tour through rural Montgomery where you can visit local artists and see their work and studios.

December 9th and 10th, 12-6pm: Christmas on the Farm. Montgomery County Parks and the Friends of the Agricultural History Farm Park invite children of all ages and their parents for “Christmas on the Farm,” Saturday and Sunday, December 9 and 10, from 12 noon to 6 p.m., at the Agricultural History Farm Park, 18410 Muncaster Road, Derwood, Maryland.
